ABOUT
Marco Bentivogli is the General Secretary of the Fim Cisl, in the metalworker’s sector. He took care of the vast majority of the industrial engineering sectors and, throughout the crisis, he also took care of some of the more controversial disputes, especially Alcoa,Lucchini,Ilva, Ast and Whirpool-Indesit. On the 13th November 2014, he was elected general secretary. He was then confirmed as a leader of the Cisl’s metalworkers during the 19th Fim Cisl Congress on the 9th pf June 2017.
He is the author of a number of books and articles and he was the first trade unionist in Italy to face the changes in the industry with the advent of the Internet of Things and the digitalisation of economy and society, a topic he speaks about in #Sindacatofuturo in Industry4.0 (Adapt Press edition). At the center of his considerations it is also possible to see the “new jobs” of the Sharing and Gig Econdomy.
In unison with the former Minister Carlo Calenda, on the 12th January 2018 he promoted in the newspaper “Il Sole 24 Ore”, “Il Piano industriale per L’Italia delle competenze”(Calenda-Bentivogli’s Plan). The goal is to promote the relaunch of the country by means of a strategy based on 3 pillars: Expertise, Endeavour and Employment. The plan sparked an intense public debate which involved intellectuals, economists and political leaders that responded with a large consensus on the propositions submitted in the plan.
