ABOUT
Prof. Raffaele Bolla is Full Professor of Telecommunications Networks at the Department of Naval, Electrical, Electronic, and Telecommunications Engineering (DITEN) of the University of Genoa and Vice-Director and member of the Board of Directors of the National University Telecommunications Consortium (CNIT). He is the founder and the leader of a joint CNIT-DITEN
research group called Telecommunications Networks and Telematics (TNT, www.tnt-lab.unige.it), focused on advance Internet technologies, including 5G Networks and Network “Softwarization” techniques. He has been and is responsible for many important research projects and contracts primarily in the EU contest (FP7, H2020). His activity in the field of standardization is also relevant, as an expert member of numerous ETSI Specialist Task Force (STF) and Editor or Rapporteur of many Working Items both in ETSI and ITU-T.
He is co-author of more than 200 scientific publications in international journals, books, and congresses and his current research interests and activities are mainly focused on: i) reduction of energy consumption in telecommunications networks, ii) the “Softwarization” of networks through Network Function Virtualization, and Software Defined Networking, within 5G networks, iii) integration among cloud, fog, edge computing and telecommunications networks, iv) the security of virtualized environments, v) blockchain technology advance applications design and test.
