Invited Talk: “Recent Progress in End-to-End Learning for the Physical Layer”
Abstract: End-to-end learning of communication systems aims at replacing most of the classical signal processing algorithms in a transmitter and receiver by neural networks which are trained jointly with respect to an end-to-end performance metric. During the last five years, this field of research has made tremendous progress and it has now become possible to  learn entire physical layer implementations from waveform to code with state-of-the-art performance. In this talk, I will provide an overview of recent results and discuss future challenges as well as promising research directions.
