Biography

Maximo Ibarra is the CEO of Engineering. Born in 1968 in Cali, Colombia, he graduated in Italy and began his career at TIM in 1994. Over the next ten years, he held various leadership positions at Omnitel Vodafone (Head of Consumer Marketing), DHL (Chief Operating Officer), Benetton Group (Global VP Marketing & Communication), and FIAT Auto (Vice President of Strategy & Business Development for the Services Business Unit).

In parallel with his professional career, he continued his studies in Paris, London, and Silicon Valley.

In 2004, he served as Marketing Director in the mobile telecommunications sector at Wind, where he later became CEO and General Manager in 2012. In 2016, he became the CEO of Wind TRE, which resulted from the joint venture between the Italian telecommunications businesses of CK Hutchison and VimpelCom. He then continued his career as CEO of KPN and Sky Italia, where he remained in office until June 2021. In 2021, he chaired the B20 Task Force, one of the most authoritative engagement groups established by the G20. Since January 2024 he has been on the Advisory Board of B7 Italy 2024, “Leading the Transitions Together”, the most important business engagement group established in view of the G7.

On October 1, 2021, he became the new CEO of Engineering.

Since 2005, he has been a lecturer in Marketing and Digital Marketing at the University & Business School Guido Carli Luiss in Rome. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Mediobanca and the Advisory Board of WPP/The European House – Ambrosetti.
