Biography

Titti Postiglione is Deputy Head of the Civil Protection Department, Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

After graduating with honors in geological sciences in 1994 at the Federico II University in Naples, she earned a Ph.D. in geophysics and volcanology in 1998.

Her career is tied to civil protection, which she met in 1999 after winning a public competition for young technicians at the Civil Protection Department. In 2005, she became manager and, in 2015, was appointed Director General of the Emergency Management Office. Earlier, she managed the Italy Situation Room, the national operations center of civil protection, as the first young European woman in this role, then became head of the Voluntary Work, Training and Communication Office, managing activities of thousands of civil protection volunteer groups while being responsible for training, and risk and emergency communication.

She coordinated the management of all major emergencies affecting Italy and attended many missions abroad.

Almost 20 years of leadership experience in different fields handling complex matters, long tenure and growth as a qualified member of the public administration, and commitment to demanding emergency contexts requiring skills in managing processes affected by great uncertainty and the need for very short problem-solving times are the hallmarks of her career.

Author of many publications in volcanology and civil protection, she has received several awards for her dedication to serving others.

She was honored by the President of the Republic with the title Knight of the Republic.
