Biography

At the height of a professional career of over 30 years, Nunzia CIARDI, formerly head of the Postal and Communications Police, the highest national police organ in the fight against cybercrime and specialist organization of the State Police, was appointed by the President of the Council of Ministers Deputy Director General of
the National Cybersecurity Agency.
A law graduate with years of experience in countering cybercrime, she has been the coordinator of the units of Italian police specialised in containing and preventing cyber-terrorism, financial cyber-crime and digital threats in addition to all on-line felonies involving minors.
She has represented Italy in the EUROPOL Cybercrime Taskforce and were part in the European project EU/OF2CEN aimed at designing common strategies against international online fraud.
She is currently a member of the Scientific Committee of the Second Level Master “Homeland Security – systems, methods and tools for security and crisis management” at the University Campus Bio-Medico of Rome.
She is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Permanent Observatory on Security and a member of the Scientific Committee of the Permanent Observatory on Educational Policies of EURISPES.
She is a Council member in the Women4Cyber initiative by the European Cybersecurity Organisation (ECSO), aiming to enhance the role of women in the field of digital security.
She teaches in several universities, in police academies and in the “Centro Alti Studi per la Difesa”.
In 2021 she wins the “Inspiring Fifty 2021 Italy” award, conferred by personalities from the business world and academia to women who act as role models in the world of technology.
