Paolo Ravazzani, Master Degree in Electronic Engineering and PhD in Bioengineering, is Research Director of the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche. Since December 2018 he is serving as Director of the Istituto di Elettronica e di Ingegneria dell’Informazione e delle Telecomunicazioni IEIIT of the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche. His scientific interests are linked to the study of the applications of electromagnetic fields (EMF) in medicine, their characterization for biomedical systems and devices, the study of methods for the evaluation of exposure to electromagnetic waves at low frequencies and microwaves and their possible impact on health. He served as central scientific coordinator of numerous European and international projects in the field of the evaluation of possible health effects of electromagnetic waves (ELFSTAT (2015-2019), EFHRAN (2009-2012), EMF-NET (2004-2008), EMFnEAR (2004-2007), GUARD (2002-2004). Furthermore, he has participated in major European and international projects of the same area, such as the FP7 projects Geronimo
(2014-2018) and ARIMMORA (2011-2015). His research group is currently involved in the activities
of the Horizon Europe projects GOLIAT “5G exposure, causal effects, and risk perception through
citizen engagement” (2022-2027) and CENTRIC “Towards an AI-native, user-centric air interface for
6G networks” (2023-2025).
